2012 Brad Keselowski car up for auction a second time at Barrett-Jackson
One of the many cool things about the Barrett-Jackson Collector-Car events is the amount of money they have raised for charity over the years -- nearly $85 million for a variety of worthy causes.
At the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction in 2013, a Team Penske Dodge Charger that Brad Keselowski drove in the 2012 Chase race at Texas Motor Speedway sold for a cool half-million dollars, with every penny of that money going to the NASCAR Foundation.
"NASCAR in general is proud of the whole industry," NASCAR vice chairman Mike Helton said after the car sold. "There's so many great efforts going on by car owners and drivers and track operators. The NASCAR Foundation is one of many but it's one, certainly, we have a great deal of interest in doing the right thing with. The Barrett-Jackson folks are great -- a community-minded organization that helps us do this."
Helton called the sale "very humbling and rewarding -- we're very thankful to have the opportunity to bring this car in."
As has been the case with several high-profile charity cars over the years, this one has been re-donated to be sold to benefit another worthy organization.
So on Thursday night, the iconic No. 2 Blue Deuce will roll across the Barrett-Jackson auction block again, this time at the company's flagship event in Scottsdale, Arizona.
All the money from Thursday night's sale will be donated to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, another non-profit organization near and dear to the hearts of the NASCAR community. We hope it raises big money a second time to help folks in need.
