Vickers ready for 3 in a row for Stewart, unsure after Texas
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Brian Vickers is getting ready for his third consecutive race filling in for injured Tony Stewart. Nothing is certain after Texas.
There still could be more NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races for Stewart-Haas Racing and maybe a ride in the 100th Indianapolis 500. Vickers would also like to do the 24 Hours of Le Mans again.
Vickers said Thursday that his main goal is to focus on Saturday night's race at Texas. The fill-in driver is coming off a seventh-place finish at Martinsville in Stewart's No. 14 Chevrolet.
Stewart is recovering from a fractured vertebra suffered while riding an all-terrain vehicle in a California desert before the season. It is still unclear when Stewart will debut in what is set to be his last season as a full-time driver.
