NHRA: John Force heads to Phoenix 4th in points with new sponsor

John Force will be sporting a slightly different livery at this weekend’s CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona.

Sitting fourth in the points, Force has Republic Services riding on the side of his PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for this weekend’s second event of the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Based in Phoenix, Republican Services provides non-hazardous solid waste and recycling services for its customers.

“Bryan Emrich the Chief Marketing Officer for PEAK told me when we started working with PEAK that we were going to market differently,” said Force. “Boy has he proven it since B to B is what it is all about. Seeing my Funny Car emblazed with Republic Services on the side is exciting.”

Force has eight wins at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Phoenix, but it has been 11 years since the last time he took it to the winner’s circle in the desert. Force lost to Del Worsham in the semis at the 2016 season-opener in Pomona, and is hoping to make it one round further this weekend.

“I have had a lot of success at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park,” Force reflected. “We have match-raced there, tested there and I’ve won the national event there. I am part Indian from my mom who was from Oklahoma and I love being in the desert. My hot rod ran good in testing a few weeks ago and we were pretty good in Pomona to start the season. I love being around these young kids on my team and they give me heart.”

FS1 and FOX Sports GO will broadcast qualifying from the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in a one-hour show beginning at 10 p.m. ET Saturday night. Three hours of finals coverage will follow at 5 p.m. ET Sunday.
