Goodyear tire test at Homestead moved back 2 weeks
LONG POND, Pa. (AP) The Goodyear tire test at Homestead-Miami Speedway has been moved to Sept. 9, when the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field has already been set.
The original test date was Aug. 26. NASCAR said Friday it was moved because too many teams already planned to test that week at Chicago.
It's not been determined yet if Chase drivers will be allowed to test at Homestead, site of the season-ending race that will decide the champion.
NASCAR initially said no Chase drivers could participate in the test, but all organizations represented in the Chase could attend. Teams were told to send a substitute driver instead of a Chase driver.
The restrictions hurt many teams, including Team Penske, which has both of its drivers already qualified for the Chase.
