The 1985 European Grand Prix was held at Brands Hatch in England on Oct. 6, 1985, where Nigel Mansell took his first Grand Prix win and Alain Prost his first World Championship.

Although the full race is worth the watch, we’ve picked out some of the key timestamps from the race to help speed up your viewing:
10:55: Ayrton Senna, driving for Lotus at the time, leads a 26-car field away for 75 laps, closely pursued by Nelson Piquet. Keke Rosberg (not Nigel Mansell, as the commentators call) gets a bad start from fourth on the grid and Alain Prost drops from sixth to 14th as he is forced to drive onto the grass in avoidance. Nigel Mansell then runs off at Druids and loses a few positions.
16:50: Pierluigi Martini spins off, and Murray Walker and James Hunt aren’t too surprised.
19:05: Keke Rosberg attempts a pass for the lead on Ayrton Senna but contact sends Rosberg spinning and leaves Nelson Piquet with nowhere to go. Nigel Mansell moves up into second.
20:40: Keke Rosberg comes in to get his left rear tire replaced after it was punctured by Piquet. As he emerges, he comes out right in front of Senna and bulks the Brazilian in retaliation, allowing Nigel Mansell to move into the lead.
29:15: The Ferrari of Michele Alboreto, who was Alain Prost’s rival for the championship, catches fire after a turbo failure. He then brings the blazing car down into the pits, standing up as he steers it toward the pit box.
44:05: Classic Murrayism: “And now Jacques Lafitte is as close to Surer in fourth position as Surer is to Lafitte.”
Ayrton Senna (Lotus 97T Renault) leads Nigel Mansell (Williams FW10 Honda) on the climb up to Paddock Hill Bend at the start.
54:55: On Pirelli tires, Marc Surer finally is able to get around Ayrton Senna for second place. Senna falls to fourth behind Lafitte less than a minute later but Senna retakes him at 1:13:40. Lafitte retires from the race at 1:25:30.
1:04:55: The camera picks up Alain Prost who, shortly after pitting, begins setting lap records as he aims to finish in the top five, which would give him his first of four World Championships.
1:09:10: Ivan Capelli, making his Formula One debut, crashes out of the race in his Tyrrell.
1:19:55: Alain Prost moves by Elio de Angelis for fifth place and puts himself in contention to win the championship.
1:29:00: Mark Surer, who was running in second position, retires as his Brabham catches fire with just 13 laps to go.
1:31:20: Keke Rosberg makes a move for third place on Alain Prost, putting him back on the podium despite his incident with Senna and Piquet early on in the race.
1:43:45: Nigel Mansell takes his first Grand Prix win, shortly followed by Alain Prost in fourth, who takes the World Championship.
