Chivas USA has been awarded American midfielder Sal Zizzo in a weighted lottery held by Major League Soccer.
Zizzo left Hannover of the Bundesliga to sign with MLS.
Chivas USA had the third-best chance in Wednesday's lottery following D.C. United and Kansas City.
The 23-year-old former UCLA star, a San Diego native, tore his left anterior cruciate ligament last October. Zizzo played once for the U.S. national team, in an August 2007 exhibition at Sweden, and was part of the U.S. team at the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
