Machado on Beltre: 'Hopefully, I have half the career he's had'

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has certainly made a name for himself in the hot corner.

Apparently, he's learned from the best, as he told the Baltimore Sun that he looks up to Adrian Beltre on the diamond:

“You see his track record. He’s going to go down as the best third baseman to ever play the game. He’s one of the best hitters, one of the best defensive players, one of the best players in the game right now. He’s a great mentor. He’s somebody I would look up to, and hopefully, I have half the career he’s had.”

As the Baltimore Sun points out, Beltre has accumulated 74.8 wins above replacement, while Machado is projected to have 70.1 WAR over his career.
