The Giants and Marlins played an extra-innings thriller in Miami Monday night, and Giants star Buster Posey did some damage to his face in the top of the 11th inning with a slide into third base. Posey went head-first into third, and his helmet flipped off as it caught the edge of the base.
Posey stood up and had a nasty scrape around his chin - and though the Giants had Posey in scoring position with no outs, the Marlins got out of the jam without surrendering a run. Posey joked after the game that he's going "feet first" into all slides for the rest of the season.
