The Washington Nationals and New York Mets were involved in a wild game Thursday night with a boatload of homers and a bit of controversy. Both teams launched four home runs each, which is the most for two teams combined in Citi Field history.
Bryce Harper was one of eight players to hit a homer, and he did so with a great deal of confidence. After hearing boo birds rain down on him during his trot around the bases, Harper shushed those unhappy Mets fans upon crossing the plate.
Harper's 431-foot bomb wasn't enough to earn the Nationals the win as Wilmer Flores' pinch-hit three-run homer proved to be the difference.
