Phil Mickelson, longtime swing coach Butch Harmon split

Published Nov. 4, 2015 7:23 p.m. ET

Phil Mickelson and his longtime swing coach Butch Harmon have split, according to a statement Mickelson sent to Golf.com on Wednesday.

"I've learned a great deal from him in our eight years together," Mickelson said in the statement. "It's just that at the moment I need to hear new ideas from a different perspective."

Mickelson and Harmon, who first teamed up in 2007, had combined for 12 PGA Tour victories, including the 2007 Players, 2010 Masters and 2013 British Open.

Harmon, 72, still coaches several PGA Tour golfers, including Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson.
