Rory McIlroy will have the home-course advantage in next month's British Open. That apparently is enough for the bookmakers across the pond to consider him the favorite coming into the third major of the year, which will be played at famed St. Andrews from July 16-19.

McIlroy, the defending champion, is listed anywhere between 7-2 and 9-2 according to eight different wagering sites.

Spieth, the reigning Masters and U.S. Open champion, is the second choice, with odds ranging from 5-1 to 7-1.

Betting on events such as the British Open is far more popular overseas than it is in the United States.

If you are wondering where tumbling Tiger Woods' odds stand, he is listed anywhere from 25-1 to 40-1.

U.S. Open runner-up Dustin Johnson is the third choice at most places, ranging from 14-1 to 16-1. Adam Scott is 12-1 at William Hill with longer odds at the other seven sites.

Phil Mickelson is 25-1 across the board.

Only two sites have placed odds on John Daly. He is listed at 250-1 and 400-1.
