Vols' chancellor: 'No inappropriate conduct with any players or coaches'

During Tennessee's annual Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, chancellor Jimmy Cheek felt compelled to address rumors and speculation that head coach Butch Jones and offensive lineman Mack Crowder were involved in an "altercation" during fall camp. 

According to Cheek, he and athletic director Dave Hart did their "due diligence" and found nothing to validate those accusations. 

“There’s been a lot of rumor and misinformation on social media and message boards about an alleged incident during football practice,” Cheek said. “It’s not our practice to respond to rumors, but I thought it was important to let you know that we’ve done our due diligence and Dave Hart and I are very confident there was no inappropriate conduct with any players or coaches.” 

Crowder, the player at the center of the alleged incident, also released his first public statements Thursday since being named as the player involved in the alleged altercation:
