UCLA QB Josh Rosen gets ringing endorsement from Virginia QB

Josh Rosen's admirers are not limited to Westwood. The true freshman quarterback has ringing endorsements from Virginia, particularly Cavaliers quarterback Matt Johns.

David Teel at the Daily Press wondered if Johns would have been mentally ready for the pressure of starting at quarterback as a true freshman.

"I absolutely would not have been ready," said Johns on Monday during a media session. "I can tell you that right now, and that's just kudos to him [Rosen]. That's a talented player right there, who's able to come in and play right away. … The playbook that we have here is very dense and it takes a while to really digest what's going on."

OK, but from a physical standpoint, would Johns have been ready?

"No, I don't think I would have," he said. "Some kids are, some kids are gifted to come in and be ready right away. I needed to get in the weight room and see the speed of the game and those things."
