Syracuse Football: Don't ask Dino Babers how to stop Lamar Jackson
The first prime-time game for the Syracuse football team was against Louisville. While it didn’t go the way Orange fans had planned, they learned a lot from it.
While the Syracuse football team is focused on their second “skin” game of the season. There are a few other big games going on around the country.
Especially when it comes to the ACC, on Saturday night the Louisville Cardinals will travel to Death Valley to play the Clemson Tigers.
Syracuse football head coach Dino Babers was asked about Louisivlle star Lamar Jackson. And it resulted in a light-hearted moment at his press conference and got a good laugh from the media.
Against the Orange, the Heisman front runner was one rushing yard from becoming the first FBS quarterback to rush for 200 yards and pass for 400 in a game. Despite that the media still asked Babers if he had any advice on stopping Jackson.
“Based on our defensive performance,” Babers said, “I don’t have the right to have an opinion on [stopping Jackson].”
To be honest, I don’t think anyone can stop Jackson. The current FBS leaders in touchdowns goes as follows: Louisville at number one, Michigan at number two, and Jackson is in a tie with several other teams.
So let that soak in for a second, Jackson has as many touchdowns as several other power-houses. While on top of that he has scored more touchdowns than over a 100 other teams.
He is putting up video game like numbers and they face their next test in prime-time on ESPN against the other Heisman favorite Deshaun Watson. This game bares obvious importance not only for the Cardinals making it to the College Football Playoff, but also for Jackson’s Heisman hopes.
This should be the highlight of the college football weekend and if the cards fall right, perhaps we’ll see two ACC teams in the final-four.
