The SEC is doing their best to curb the jubilation of students and fans following a big home field win by increasing the fines up to possibly $50,000 for first time offenders.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mike Slive had this to say on the topic of the increased fines:

“It’s an attempt to change behavior,” Slive said. “I think we have changed it considerably, but there are still times when it happens. I think our folks felt the current fine structure is not sufficiently large enough to be a quality deterrent.”

If the figure of $50,000 is accurate, it would be a steep increase from the fines of previous seasons. The first violation use to run schools $5,000, followed by a $25,000 fine for second offenders.
