Saban: 'I think we'll start (Coker) in this game'
Alabama threw a curveball at the last minute and started sophomore Cooper Bateman against Ole Miss. They likely regret the deceptive decision, as Bateman gave way to senior Jacob Coker by the second half of their loss to the Rebels.
During his Monday media session, Nick Saban spoke of his team's inability to find their offensive identity after three games. Juggling quarterbacks in and out of the lineup certainly isn't helping the cause.
"[Jacob Coker] came into the game and played with some passion and showed great leadership and energy when he played," Saban said. "We still have things that we need to work on and improve. At this point, provided [Coker] does the things he's supposed to do, I think we'll start him in this game."
While Saban didn't make any proclamations, it's clear Coker is currently the "guy" for the Tide after his solid performance against a tough Ole Miss defense. While Coker did have the two turnovers in the game, the senior finally showed the promise many have attached to his name since his time at Florida State.
As the Tide enter the thick of SEC play, it's time for Alabama to roll with one quarterback and see where he can lead them.
