Weber State coach Ron McBride will retire at the end of this season after nearly five decades on the sidelines for more than a half-dozen college football programs.
McBride said Tuesday that he will coach the remaining two games for the Wildcats, a team he has led for seven seasons.
McBride has a 41-38 record at Weber State. In 2008, the team advanced to the Football Championship Series playoffs for the first time since 1991.
The 72-year-old McBride is the sixth-oldest active coach in Division I football. Prior to taking the helm at Weber State, he coached Utah for 13 years, compiling a record of 88-63.
McBride has worked as an assistant coach at Arizona, Wisconsin and Kentucky, among other universities.
