Report: TCU quarterback Boykin won't start vs. Sooners

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 1:11 p.m. ET

No. 18 TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin will not start and is unlikely to play in Saturday's matchup of 9-1 teams at No. 7 Oklahoma, ESPN reports.

Boykin suffered an ankle injury in last week's 23-17 victory vs. Kansas.

Coach Gary Patterson said redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer will start against the Sooners.

Sawyer replaced Boykin in the Kansas game and completed just 1 of 7 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. He'd attempted just one pass this season before the Kansas game.

Boykin has thrown for 3,427 yards and 29 touchdown passes this season.

Patterson had previously announced wide receiver Josh Doctson, who has 79 catches and 14 touchdowns, will miss the rest of the regular season with a wrist injury.
