Report: MSU final-play hero feared 'Bo Jackson-type injury'

Michigan State defensive back Jalen Watts-Jackson went from joy to anguish nearly instantly Saturday night, returning a fumble for a game-winning touchdown against Michigan but dislocating his hip in the process.
His father, Rick Jackson, told the Detroit News there were initial fears Watts-Jackson could have suffered something similar to the hip injury that ended the career of NFL and MLB star Bo Jackson, but it does not appear now to be that serious.
"He'll have to be light on it for at least a couple of months," Jackson said of the injury. "They popped the bone back in on the field, and that was a good thing. He was in a lot of pain but on the way to the hospital the ambulance hit a bump and knocked it back in place and he wasn't in pain anymore. So when we got to him that night he was actually pretty comfortable."

Rick Jackson added that injury happened as his son was being tackled by Michigan tight end Jake Butt, not in the ensuing celebration pileup.
