Report: Former Oklahoma QB Hansen transferring to Butler CC

Published Jun. 16, 2015 5:22 p.m. ET

Former Oklahoma quarterback Justice Hansen saw himself too far down the pecking order as the Sooners search for a starter in 2015 and decided to transfer.

Sooners coach Bob Stoops granted Hansen a full release, allowing him to sign with any school, including one in the Big 12. But it appears the Sooners won't have to worry about running into Hansen, at least not in 2015.

The redshirt freshman from Edmond, Okla., will land at Butler (Kan.) Community College, according to an ESPN report.

Hansen found himself fourth in a four-man quarterback derby with last year's starter Trevor Knight, Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield and last year's backup Cody Thomas. During the Sooners' spring game, Hansen received the fewest number of snaps by far, and read the writing on the wall.

By transferring to a junior college, Hansen is eligible to play in 2015.
