Oregon's DeForest Buckner, Stanford's Joshua Garnett named Morrris Trophy recipients
Oregon defensive lineman DeForest Buckner and Stanford offensive guard Joshua Garnett have been awarded the Morris Trophy, given to the Pac-12's top lineman.
The Morris Trophy is voted on by Pac-12 offensive and defensive lineman.
Buckner, the Pac-12's defensive played of the year, had 9.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss in 2015. He also made 76 tackles, an astounding number for a defensive lineman.
“I’m just really honored that my own peers think I was the best defensive lineman in the conference,” Buckner said, via GoDucks.com. “It says a lot. Being able to play against a bunch of good guys in the conference, and them thinking I’m the best, it’s a confidence booster, and it humbles me a lot. It’s nice to be recognized like that.”
Garnett won the Outland Trophy last week as the nation's top interior lineman, becoming the first Cardinal player to earn that honor.
