Oklahoma Football: Sooners No. 19 This Week in AP Top 25

The Oklahoma football win over archrival Texas over the weekend was huge in the minds and hearts of Sooner fans, but not so much, apparently in the eyes of the voters in the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
Representatives of the media, who makeup the voting panel in the AP poll, advanced the Sooners one spot this week, to No. 19. Oklahoma was No. 20 in last week’s AP Top 25 following the Sooners win over then 22nd-ranked TCU.
Oklahoma moved up two spots, to No. 20, in the weekly Coaches Poll.
Oklahoma and Baylor are the only two Big 12 schools currently ranked on a national level. Baylor, 5-0 on the season (the Bears play at Oklahoma on Nov. 12 in what could be a de facto Big 12 championship game), is No. 11 in the AP poll this week and up three spots to 8th in the Coaches Poll.
Oklahoma (3), TCU (13). Oklahoma State (21) and Baylor (23) were all ranked in the AP Top 25 to start the 2016 college football season. After losing to Ohio State in Week 3, the Sooners dropped out of both major national polls.
The top four positions remain unchanged in both the AP and the Coaches Poll. Alabama remains at No. 1, followed in order by Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan.
Oklahoma is one of five two-loss teams currently ranked in the AP Top 25. Ole Miss (12) and Florida State (14) are ranked ahead of the Sooners. Arkansas (22) and Auburn (24), both 4-2 this season, are ranked behind Oklahoma.
Seven teams from the SEC are ranked in the top 25, the most of any Power Five conference.
