Nebraska Football vs Wyoming Third Quarter Recap

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The third quarter of this Nebraska football game was without a doubt, the worst 15 minutes of play for the Huskers so far this season.

There is very little doubt that Wyoming is well coached. This is one of those games where you start to wonder just how well coached the Huskers are. The stupid penalties, and weird plays have continued one week after Riley made it clear he wanted it to stop.

The running game that was so good a week ago, has been completely abandoned. The game started with the Huskers throwing the ball more. It has become one of those games where Danny Langsdorf apparently forgot we even have running backs.

As has been the case in most games where the contest is put in Tommy Armstrong’s hands, the offense has struggled. After jumping out to a 17-0 lead, the offense has not scored a point. The only reason the Huskers are currently leading 24-17 is because Kieron Williams managed to get his second pick of the season, and ran it into the end zone.

Tommy Armstrong, as is usually the case with Tommy Armstrong had some good throws. The problem is that he had a ton of bad ones. The offense looked out of sync. The defense started to look out of sync and suddenly, Wyoming made this game closer than it had any business being.

There still isn’t a vibe in the stadium that Wyoming is going to win this game. At the same time, lost of people were expecting a better performance this week. Onto the fourth quarter.
