Michigan State recruiting is getting a crucial visit from four-star 2017 wide receiver Oliver Martin this weekend.

The trend for Michigan State recruiting target Oliver Martin has been strong toward Michigan lately, but the Spartans are hoping to change that this weekend. The four-star Iowa-native is expected to be in town for the BYU game Saturday.

This is an important visit for Mark Dantonio and Michigan State seeing as he’s had to cancel a few times recently. Martin is one of the top receivers in the 2017 class and he just happens to be good friends with three-star MSU quarterback commit Rocky Lombardi.

In fact, Lombardi has stated that he’s been recruiting his good friend to join Michigan State’s 2017 class, but that might be difficult seeing as the Wolverines have made a strong push for him.

Martin recently told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports that he’s beginning to narrow his list of schools, according to MLive. The four-star recruit has stated that he’s looming closely at Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Notre Dame and Oregon.

On Thursday, Martin was presented as an Army All-American invitee at his high school. He went from being one of the lesser known players in the country to a top-100 prospect in a matter of months.

The four-star Iowa-native is ranked the No. 67 overall prospect and 10th-best receiver in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.

You can bet Lombardi will be in his ear for the next couple of months about joining him in East Lansing. This recruitment is completely up in the air right now and he could go anywhere. Martin visiting East Lansing Saturday is huge for the Spartans’ chances.
