Michigan State football's struggles make Michigan offensive lineman happy
Michigan State football’s struggles in 2016 make Michigan offensive lineman Kyle Kalis happy, he says.
We are just two weeks away from the Michigan State football versus Michigan matchup in East Lansing. The game doesn’t have quite the same type of hype nor magnitude that it was thought to at the beginning of the year, but rivalries are still rivalries.

Still, players are talking to the media about the matchup already since it is nearing. Michigan offensive lineman Kyle Kalis gave some candid quotes on Monday afternoon concerning the Michigan State rivalry.
Sometimes, though, coaches don’t necessarily want players opening their mouths and spewing bulletin board material like Kalis did on Monday. The Wolverines’ right guard stated that watching Michigan State lose makes him happy.
It’s not a surprising quote since everyone likes to see a top rival struggle, but with the Michigan State game approaching in a couple of weeks for the Wolverines, this wasn’t too smart. Even some Michigan media members took notice.
No, Michigan State is not having a great year and there’s a pretty good chance that the Wolverines will march into East Lansing and come away with a W, but these are the kinds of quotes that can get a team riled up. Michigan State will be playing with nothing to lose and Michigan could be on the receiving end of an upset.
Should people expect Kalis to think differently? No, but he should keep these kind of thoughts to himself. Michigan State will be playing angry — hopefully that means it’ll play better than it has through six games.
