Mayfield sets Sooner single-game mark

NORMAN, Okla. - Former walk-on quarterback Baker Mayfield had the best offensive performance in school history Saturday.
The Oklahoma sophomore threw for 487 yards and ran for another 85 in Oklahoma's 52-38 win over Tulsa at OU's Memorial Stadium.
Mayfield's 572 yards set the single-game mark at Oklahoma for total yards. Mayfield, a transfer from Texas Tech, was 32-of-38 passing. He had 13 carries for 85 yards and accounted for six total touchdowns.
Mayfield is the first player since 2000 with at least three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in each of the first three games of the season.
"That's pretty humbling," Mayfield said of setting the record at Oklahoma. "It's something that's pretty special to me. But who knows what we could have done if we executed all of our stuff."
OU did turn the ball over twice in the first half inside the Tulsa 20-yard line and the Sooners also gave up more than 600 yards of offense to the Hurricane.
"I think I played well," Mayfield said. "There's things I'd like to have back, though."
