Mark Dantonio sends injured 3-star commit a 'get well soon' card
Mark Dantonio and the rest of the Michigan State football staff sent injured three-star commit Darien Clemons a ‘get well soon’ card.
When Darien Clemons committed to Michigan State back in April, the three-star linebacker from Piqua, Ohio, knew he wasn’t just joining a program, but a family.

These days, recruits commit to a university and it’s all business. For Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio, he wants it to be much more personal. Unlike what ‘ole Jim Harbaugh has done down the road when a recruit gets injured (took away his football scholarship), the Spartan staff embraces a full recovery.
Sure, Michigan wishes its former commits to heal as well, but the Spartans have ensured Clemons that there’s absolutely nothing to worry about as far as his scholarship is concerned.
The three-star linebacker tore his ACL, a very significant knee injury, to start his senior season at Piqua, ending his high school career on the spot. Although devastated, Clemons seems excited for the future, especially since the coaching staff at MSU has reassured him and even sent him a ‘get well soon’ card Monday.

How much more personal can a coaching staff get with a recruit, in a good way? The Spartan coaches signed it with well wishes and thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Some programs might cut a player loose after he tears his ACL, but this three-star linebacker committed to a family, not a school. This is something many uncommitted prospects will notice, helping the Spartans’ cause on the recruiting trail.
