LSU AD: Next season's Bama game will be primetime

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva says CBS has agreed to air next year's game between LSU and Alabama at Tiger Stadium in prime time, too.

CBS announced Sunday the Nov. 5 showdown between the top-ranked Tigers and No. 2 Crimson Tide would be start at 8 p.m. (EDT) instead of 3:30 p.m., the network's usual time slot for Southeastern Conference games.

CBS' contract with the SEC gives it the first pick of games to broadcast Saturday afternoon, and one prime-time game per season. ESPN's contract gives it the rights to night games.

Alleva said Monday in a letter posted on www.lsusports.net that negotiations between the networks led to the change in this year's schedule and next year's commitment to LSU by CBS to show the Alabama game at night.

''ESPN received future scheduling considerations from CBS for making the move,'' Alleva wrote. ''The change in kickoff time was not requested by either participating school.''

LSU fans have been upset this season because the Tigers will not play any SEC home games at night for the first time since 1935.

''Of course we will always continue do everything within our means to have as many other night games as possible in Baton Rouge,'' Alleva wrote.
