DENTON, Texas (AP) - Cody Sokol threw five touchdown passes and Louisiana Tech rolled to its second easy road win in six days Thursday night, beating North Texas 42-21 in their Conference USA opener.

After piling up 533 yards of offense in a 48-20 rout of Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, the Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0) got three touchdown passes from Sokol in the first quarter against the Mean Green (1-2, 0-1).

North Texas couldn't recover, falling behind 42-7 in the fourth quarter before a pair of Mean Green TD runs cut the final margin to 21.

Louisiana Tech, which also opened on the road with a 48-16 loss to No. 4 Oklahoma on Aug. 30, plays its first home game against Northwestern State on Sept. 20 before traveling to No. 5 Auburn to conclude the month.
