Joe Mixon drops ball before scoring on kick return, gets away with it

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon scored on a 97-yard kick return during the first quarter of the Sooners’ game against Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, but wouldn’t have if referees reviewed the play.
As Mixon approached the goal line, he dropped the football just inches away from paydirt. Referees didn’t catch the gaffe, but fans did.
It made the score 14–7.

Mixon had carried twice for 20 yards prior to the return.
