Demond Williams Jr.

Washington enters ranked No. 19 off a win over Washington State, and Williams was efficient in that rivalry game, throwing for 268 yards and a touchdown without an interception. He gets Utah State next, a team that just allowed 29 points to Idaho State, giving Williams a chance to build on that clean start. His decision-making matters even more with Washington banged up at running back, since a heavier passing workload could fall on his shoulders. Continued accuracy from Williams would keep the Huskies rolling as the more established team in this matchup.

 

Trey Cooley 

RB · Washington Huskies 

Washington's backfield picture shifted this week with running backs Quaid Carr and Jayden Limar both dealing with upper-body injuries, putting Cooley in line for a bigger role against Utah State. He's one of the backups the staff expects to see a considerable uptick in carries with the Huskies' top options banged up. Wood was Utah State's top receiving option in the opener, hauling in 90 yards worth of targets from Hillstead in the loss to Idaho State. He gives the Aggies a clear focal point heading into a tougher matchup against a Washington secondary that limited Washington State's passing attack in the rivalry win. With Utah State needing to move the ball efficiently to stay in the game, Wood's ability to create separation becomes especially important. Increased production from him would help take some pressure off Hillstead's decision-making on the road.
