Freshman OT Martez Ivey to have knee surgery
The Gators will likely be down a key member of their offensive line when the season starts as Jim McElwain announced his star recruit, offensive lineman Martez Ivey will go under the knife Friday.
The injury could be a tough loss for the Gators, already devastated on the offensive line with only one returning starter returning from last season, Ivey was expected to start the season as the team's left tackle.
Ivey was rated as the top prospect in Florida and the nation's No. 2 overall prospect by 247Sports. The five-star recruit was set to play the bookend for McElwain's power running scheme and now the team will turn to another untested player at left tackle.
At this point, no return for Ivey has been set, however he is expected back at some point this season.
