Former Tulane QB Tanner Lee transferring to Nebraska

Former Tulane starting QB Tanner Lee tells FOX Sports that he will transfer to Nebraska.

"I just think it's a great opportunity, and I am excited to get back to work," Lee said. "The timing is good for me. Coach [Mike] Riley is an unbelievable coach and person. I'm really looking forward to working with him and [Nebraska offensive coordinator] Coach [Danny] Langsdorf. I've heard so many great things about them."

The strong-armed, 6-foot-4, 220-pounder threw for 3,601 yards in his two seasons playing for the Green Wave. In 2015, he had 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions for Tulane. Last summer, Lee impressed all in attendance at the Manning Passing Academy with his arm and savvy.

The 20-year-old Lee opted to transfer after Tulane's coaching change brought Willie Fritz and his option offense from Georgia Southern to New Orleans. Earlier this month, the Destrehan, Louisiana, native made a visit to LSU. He would have one season of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2016 season. Lee told FOX Sports that he plans to petition the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility for what would be the 2018 season.
