Florida set to honor the late Ray Graves
As a means to commemorate former head coach and athletic director Ray Graves, Florida will don a "RG" decal on the back of its helmets for the duration of the 2015 season.
Graves compiled an impressive 70-31-4 career record during his time with the Gators. Highlights included leading the program to five bowl appearances, and also defeating a Bear Bryant-led Alabama team in 1963.
Interestingly enough, Graves had a hand in the creation of Gatorade. While coaching, he also held the position as the athletic director. When he stepped down from coaching in 1969, he continued on as the AD until 1979.
Graves will go down as one of the most successful and respected athletics coaches in the history of the university. His legacy will be everlasting in Gainesville.
