Five Arizona Football recruits and a Commit from Hawkins talk to ZonaZealots
In a mass interview, Zona Zealots Expert Shereen Rayan caught up with five highly rated Arizona Football recruits and commit Greg Johnson.
They are some of the finest and most highly sought after athletes in the country together in one interview. Arizona Football commit Greg Johnson and recruits Joseph Lewis, Jalen Hall, Aashari Crosswell, DaGabriel Floyd, and Marcus Johnson in no particular order.
Augustus Hawkins High School is a Los Angeles powerhouse situated off of the 110 freeway just a few miles from the USC Campus. The high school is a hot bed of talented football recruits included Arizona Football Defensive Coach Donte’ Williams nephew.
The Hawks are now 8-0 on the season. The record includes a forfeit due to a competing team not wanting to play against them and last night’s win against another Los Angeles high school Locke High. In the 80’s and for decades, Locke high used to be one of the most feared teams in Los Angeles; their marching band resembled the Grambling States marching band and won state awards back in the day.
Today, due to the economy and ever shrinking LA Unified School District (LAUSD) budget for sports, Locke has become a charter school and their team was absolutely no match for the Hawks.
The Hawks were up 22-0 with five minutes left in the half. Each of the three touchdowns was scored by recruits offered by Arizona; Jodie Lewis, Jalen Hall and one other. The second half seemed never to end as penalty after penalty was assessed to Hawkins for sometimes no reason other than Locke was unmatched, and several players spent 10-15 minutes injured on the field.
The game was complete with an Ambulance to pick up one of the Hawks defense victims on the Locke team. As the sirens blared as it pulled away, another Locke HS player went down, and one would have to wonder if someone should get the ambulance to come back. Eventually, the player got up on his own and limped back to the sidelines.
Because of these lengthy time-outs, the Hawks took time out to talk to me about the schools they were offered and more. Some gave us their final four, and Arizona made their list. Arizona commit, cornerback Greg Johnson, joined the group of recruits, “These are my boys!”
Well, G-Man, I can see why you would say that, what an impressive group of young athletes! The chemistry between your boys is off the charts.
The Hawkins HS Arizona commit:
Greg Johnson, CB Class of 2017 offered by 30+ schools including USC, UCLA, and most of the Pac-12, Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State but also recently offered post commitment by Alabama, yeah the Roll Tide team, Greg stays committed to the UofA! He is taking a few other visits because why not?
