Demond Tucker claims Big 12 defensive newcomer of the year

Iowa State defensive tackle Demond Tucker proved he was a quality player this season, and Big 12 coaches took notice.

Tucker won defensive newcomer of the year in the Big 12, as voted on by the coaches.

Tucker, a junior, led the Cyclones with 13.0 tackles for loss. He also had 28 tackles and six sacks.

Tucker was a JUCO transfer. He came to the Cyclones from Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Miss.) this season.
