Brothers, Harris leading charge for defense

Missouri's defense wasn't supposed to be this good in 2015.

Gary Pinkel's program lost virtually its entire starting defensive line from a year ago, including Harold Brantley to injury. Heading into this season, a lack of depth and inexperience were major concerns.

Through the first four games, Missouri is No. 7 overall nationally in total defense. It leads the SEC in total defense and passing defense.

Without question, the duo of Kentrell Brothers and Charles Harris is a driving force for this group. Harris leads the Tigers with 9.5 tackles for loss and is tied for first in sacks (3.0). He truly has the look of the next great Missouri defensive lineman.

Brothers leads the nation in total tackles, and undoubtedly has been the leader of the defense. His ability to position himself around the ball is simply uncanny. There are few 'backers as skilled as Brothers on the collegiate level.

As the schedule continues to get progressively more difficult, we will continue to learn just how good Missouri's defense is. However, Pinkel has to be thrilled at the effectiveness of the group thus far.
