Auburn names team captains for 2015

Auburn picked team captains Thursday night, with senior receiver Jonathan Wallace and redshirt sophomore buck linebacker Carl Lawson getting the honors.

Tigers coach Gus Malzahn had initially said that he'd announce team captains Tuesday but then decided to wait until all fall practices had been completed.

Wallace is a reserve slot receiver who is not actually on the two-deep after converting from quarterback this offseason. He started four games at QB in 2012, though, the final year of the Gene Chizik era, and went 2-2.

Lawson, a starter and standout pass rusher, is projected to be one of Auburn's most impactful players on defense. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL but had 20 tackles and four sacks as a true freshman in 2013.
