At $6 million, Stoops needs more wins in '15 to be a Big 12 value

Published Apr. 27, 2015 12:38 a.m. ET

With Bob Stoops' annual compensation at $6 million per season, Oklahoma is paying out a lot of cash per win when the Sooners only bring home eight victories like last season.

Of course OU isn't paying Stoops for only last season. He earned that salary with a strong track record of winning football games, Big 12 titles and a national championship. But what if Stoops led the Sooners to 10 wins in 2015? Or 11. Maybe 12? What kind of value would he be then?

Probably still not quite up to the level that Art Briles has delivered at Baylor, or Gary Patterson at TCU.

Sooners fans, though, would sure like to find out.
