Arkansas RB Walker out with stress fracture

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino says freshman running back Kody Walker has had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his shin.

Petrino didn't indicate Wednesday how many games Walker would miss for the No. 10 Razorbacks (5-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference). He only said it ''will take a while for that to heal.''

Walker has five touchdowns this season for Arkansas, gaining 68 yards on 20 carries. However, he hasn't had a carry since the Razorbacks' third game against Troy.

Arkansas opens the second half of its season when it travels to Mississippi (2-4, 0-3) on Saturday.
