All-American safety Eddie Jackson returning for his senior season

The rich get richer, as junior safety Eddie Jackson announced Thursday he would return to Alabama for his senior season. The Crimson Tide defensive back earned Second Team All-American honors following his only season at safety, after he played cornerback his first two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

Jackson said he's coming back for one reason; he wants a shot at winning another national title:

The position switch paid off for Jackson right away in 2015, as he recorded a career best six interceptions his junior season, including one during the National Championship against Clemson.

The junior was also honored this season as the FWAA National Defensive Player of the Week following the Texas A&M game. Against the Aggies, Jackson recorded two pick-six interceptions and had 119 interception return yards. His 230 interception return yards accumulated in 2015 are now a single-season school record at Alabama.

With the Crimson Tide losing both its defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and defensive backs coach Mel Tucker to Georgia, the return of a senior leader like Jackson could pay immediate dividends in the opening game against USC in Dallas Sept. 3.
