Alabama receiver Robert Foster needs shoulder surgery

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama receiver Robert Foster's shoulder injury requires surgery.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said Monday the injury to his right shoulder sustained in a loss to Mississippi was more serious than initially thought. Asked for a timetable on Foster's return, he said he'll be out "for a while."
Foster is fourth on the team with 10 catches, 116 yards and two touchdowns. The 12th-ranked Tide plays Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.
Saban said snapper Cole Mazza is also out for the game with unspecified "medical reasons."
He said young players like freshman Calvin Ridley will have to fill in for Foster. Saban also said receiver Cam Sims could play after recovering from knee surgery.
Ridley is second on the team with 13 catches but is averaging just 6.7 yards per reception.
