Ahead of big game, LSU trying to best Alabama on recruiting trail

Recruiting is a 24/7, 365-day-a-year endeavor...especially in SEC country.

When a program has a bye week, the efforts are seemingly enhanced even harder. When two rivals are in the mix for the same player, the wackiest of things can occur.

LSU and Alabama have traditionally gone after many of the same players. Rivals from a geographical and football standpoint, it can get incredibly heated between the two schools.

2016 defensive tackle prospect Kendell Jones is the latest athlete to be fought over by both programs. Currently committed to Alabama, the Scout.com 5-star prospect visited LSU this past weekend.

Jones did grow up in New Orleans before being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. His high school teammate Rahssan Thornton is currently committed to LSU, and accompanied him on the trip.

While there's no indication Jones will flip to Les Miles' program, a visit to Baton Rouge surely indicates some level of interest. At 6'4.5", 361 pounds, he should be able to contribute on the collegiate level right away.
