Winthrop defeats UNC Asheville 107-100 in OT

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) Keon Moore scored 22 points, including a 3-pointer with 2 seconds to play in regulation to tie the game and lead Winthrop to a 107-100 come-from-behind overtime victory over UNC Asheville on Wednesday night.

Joab Jerome hit a 3-pointer in overtime to give Winthrop a 100-97 lead with 48 seconds left. Tevin Prescott made a layup and the Eagles made 5 of 6 free throws to seal it.

Down 91-80 with 3:27 to play, Winthrop closed on a 14-3 run, capped by three straight treys by Jerome, Keon Johnson and Moore, to tie the game at 94 and send into overtime.

Johnson scored 27 points, Jerome and Andre Smith added 17 for Winthrop (16-12, 9-6 Big South), which pulled within one game of the South Division lead.

Andrew Rowsey scored 37 points for UNC Asheville (15-14, 9-6), and became the school's all-time 3-point single-season leader with 95.
