Williams, UMass-Lowell top New Hampshire 58-52

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Akeem Williams had 25 points on Saturday, and Massachusetts-Lowell ran away from New Hampshire in the final minute for a 58-52 win.

At 2,045 career points, Williams passed Bill Quirk (2,032) and Stacey Moragne (2,041) for third place on UMass-Lowell's all-time scoring list.

Williams had a three-point play with 34 seconds left to give the River Hawks (9-18, 7-8 America East Conference) the lead for good at 52-50.

After a quick turnover by New Hampshire (6-21, 4-10), Williams hit two more free throws to extend the lead to 54-50 with 30 seconds left.

Chris Pelcher quickly scored to pull UNH back within two, but UMass-Lowell made all four free throws in the final 16 seconds to secure the victory.

Pelcher had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, who took a 50-49 lead with 49 seconds to play on Daniel Dion's 3-pointer which capped a 7-0 run.
