Garrett Stutz scored 16 points to help Wichita State defeat Indiana State 93-83 in three overtimes Saturday night.

The Shockers (16-4, 7-2 Missouri Valley) pulled into a second-place tie with Indiana State (12-8, 7-2) and narrowly avoided a third straight home loss.

Each team had six players score in double figures. Aaron Carter had 16 points to lead the Sycamores, who had their six-game win streak snapped.

Indiana State trailed by 10 early in the second half and by eight midway through the first overtime. A driving layup by Jake Kelly with 24.5 seconds remaining in that period made it 73-73 and sent the game to a second overtime.

The Sycamores finally built a lead there, going up 79-75 with 2:44 on the clock, but then got behind 80-79. After a Myles Walker hook shot gave Indiana State an 81-80 lead, Toure Murry's free throw tied it again, leading to the final overtime.

Wichita State ended the game on a 12-0 run, spurred by Ben Smith's go-ahead 3-pointer.
