Wake Forest big man Tony Woods, who was granted his release from the program following a misdemeanor assault on his girlfriend, is scheduled to head to Louisville this weekend.
Woods' former summer coach, Norman Parker of the Georgia Stars, told FOXSports.com that Woods is expected to take an official visit to Rick Pitino's program.
"He'll go this weekend," Parker said.
However, the Cardinals aren't the only big-time program that has expressed interest in bringing in the talented big man.
Parker also said that Kentucky, West Virginia, Georgetown, Auburn, Xavier, Cincinnati -- among others -- have reached out to both him and Woods' mother in an attempt to recruit the junior.
"I've literally gotten about 30 calls about him," Parker said. "I've been bombarded. He's a good kid who made a mistake and is sorry. He knows he had a good opportunity with Coach (Jeff) Bzdelik and made a mistake."
"Now he's going to weigh his options and see what's best for him," Parker added.
The 6-foot-10 Woods was expected to start for Wake Forest this year after averaging 4.6 points and 3.2 rebounds while playing behind Chas McFarland a year ago.
However, he was arrested in September and was charged with kicking and pushing the mother of his infant son -- causing a fracture of her spine. He was suspended indefinitely and pleaded to the misdemeanor charge -- which carried a suspended 60-day sentence and community service.
Parker said the Wake staff has also told him he could return to school -- pending approval from the board.
However, Woods' return to Wake seems unlikely, as do discussions about him going overseas to Europe.
"I think he needs to transfer and play another two years in college," Parker said. "Now he just needs to see what fits him best."
According to Parker, Woods is currently home in Georgia and won't be able to enroll anywhere until the start of the second semester. He'd have to sit out a year and then have two years of eligibility beginning in the middle of the 2011-12 campaign.
