Keith Gabriel scored 28 points as Virginia Military Institute defeated Radford 80-76 Saturday night, handing the Highlanders their 15th consecutive loss.

Twenty of Gabriel's points came in the second half, including a 3-pointer that put the Keydets (9-9, 4-4 Big South Conference) ahead 38-35 after they had trailed 35-33 at halftime.

VMI led 73-64 with 50 seconds left, but the Highlanders (3-16, 0-7) rallied to get within 78-76 on a three-point play by R.J. Price, who had hit a 3-pointer 9 seconds earlier.

Ron Burks then made two free throws to restore the Keydets' lead to four points.

Stan Okoye, Rodney Glasgow and Michael Sparks scored 12 points each for VMI, which has won all eight of its home games this season.

Price scored 17 points and Javonte Green had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Radford, which has lost 25 straight road games plus three more at neutral sites.
