D.J. Covington recorded his third double-double of the season and Virginia Military Institute dominated Virginia-Lynchburg 102-61 Monday in a nonconference game.

Covington made 10 of 11 shots en route to 26 points and pulled down 10 boards. Stan Okoye added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Keydets, who built a 56-39 rebounding advantage.

Phillip Anglade broke open a 4-all tie with a jumper and a three-point play on consecutive possessions and VMI (4-5) used a 21-2 run to take a 25-6 lead with 10:33 left in the first half.

Virginia-Lynchburg (5-9) never got any closer than 18 as the Keydets took a 52-23 lead into intermission and pushed their lead to as much as 34, 84-50, in the second half.

The Keydets forced a season high 31 turnovers on the strength of 20 steals. VMI scored 31 points off those errors and 50 points in the paint.
