Virginia Tech's top scorer Smith heading to Georgia Tech

ATLANTA (AP) Adam Smith is returning home to play his final year at Georgia Tech after leading Virginia Tech in scoring last season.
The 6-foot-1 guard was the top 3-point shooter in the Atlantic Coast Conference (42.4 percent) and paced the Hokies with 13.4 points a game.
Smith is set to receive his bachelor's degree in communications from Virginia Tech this weekend, and therefore can play for the Yellow Jackets without sitting out a season.
A native of suburban Atlanta, Smith started his college career at UNC-Wilmington before transferring to Virginia Tech.
Now he heads to another ACC school, providing a much-needed offensive boost for Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory and his struggling program.
Gregory says Smith's shooting and play-making skills will have ''an immediate impact on our team.''
